The Desiccant Canister – Model 5000-00 is a small, perforated canister packed with a desiccant having color indicators for moisture content. The Desiccant Canister case is lightweight yet strong enough to withstand years of use. The Desiccant Canister’s content has a reversible action. Once the Desiccant Canister has absorbed all the moisture it can hold, it can be regenerated easily by a simple heat treatment. Upon cooling, the Desiccant Canister will be capable of reabsorbing to its full capacity. This cycle can be repeated over and over again with the Desiccant Canister.

The desiccant material within the Desiccant Canister attracts the water vapor and holds it physically through surface absorption and capillary action. The Desiccant Canister has a tremendous number of submicroscopic pores which give it a high moisture capacity. One Desiccant Canister will maintain a safe level of humidity in a 3 cubic foot sealed enclosure.

The Desiccant Canisters have a convenient monitor window. When the desiccant seen through the Desiccant Canister’s window turns pink, it indicates that the saturation point has been reached. Heating it in a vented oven at 300° F (148.9° C) for approximately 3 hours, or until the blue color returns, will drive out the moisture and restore the Desiccant Canister’s absorption capabilities.
