High Sierra Electronics’ 2U desktop/rack-mount Model 1012 ALERT2 Decoder is completely of our own design. All ALERT2 protocol processing is handled using technology developed by HSE and its sister company, OneRain.
Unique features include an informative Receive Signal Strength Indication (RSSI), conveniently displayed on a front panel LCD meter.
Understanding RSSI for each gauge site is a valuable tool in determining site and system health and for troubleshooting. Planned development will encode RSSI readings into S messages for storage of a running history of “RSSI by transmit site” in OneRain’s Contrail Base Station and Contrail Server, to enable early detection of degraded system performance. Front panel Detect and Decode LEDs, along with RSSI, provide a visual indication of successfully decoded ALERT2 messages.
The Decoder features an IP-accessible graphical user interface (GUI) where users can access and configure many of its functions. With this full-featured WEB UI, users can view received ALERT2 messages as they arrive. Additionally, users have access to logged data, download of logs, and configuration of all relevant parameters (except for IP address and hostname).
The 1012 Decoder can also receive both inverted and normal modulation polarity ALERT2 signals.
