The Temperature Sensor – Model 5720-00 is a highly accurate, low-power temperature sensor for both water and air temperature measurement applications. The Temperature Sensor utilizes a thin film platinum resistance temperature detector (RTD) element that provides an accuracy of ±0.36° F (±0.20° C) and a measuring range of -40° to 140° F (-40° to 60° C). The Temperature Sensor’s temperature element is encapsulated within a waterproof, stainless steel enclosure to prevent corrosion. This casing allows the Temperature Sensor to be mounted in a Model 5728-00 multi-plate radiation shield for mast mounts.
While not designed for deep water immersion, the Temperature Sensor is suitable for water temperature measurements in bogs, wetlands, wells, lakes, reservoirs, streams, and rivers.
The Temperature Sensor – Model 5720-00 is used with the 5720-11 through 5720-13 Temperature Sensor Signal Conditioning Module to convert the sensor’s signal for use with telemetry systems, data loggers, recorders, etc. The 5720-1X Series conditioning modules convert the Temperature Sensor to either a current or voltage output. It linearizes the Temperature Sensor output and provides a second order correction to the RTD.
